Privacy policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
Voice Box turns what you say into text and sends that text only where you choose. We run no server for it, there are no accounts, and we collect nothing.
Your voice
Microphone audio is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition, on your device when the language you chose supports it. When it does not, Apple's speech recognition service may process the audio instead, under Apple's privacy policy.
Voice Box does not save or send any recording of your voice.
Your text
The text goes only where you send it:
- A Mac nearby that you paired by scanning its QR code, over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection (Bluetooth or Wi-Fi). It does not pass through the internet.
- An MQTT broker or P2P receiver, only if you enter one yourself in Advanced settings. That server is yours or one you chose; we operate none.
- The clipboard, when you tap Copy or a recent phrase.
Your 50 most recent phrases are kept as text on your device, so you can copy them again. They are deleted with the app.
Camera
The camera is used only to scan the pairing QR code your Mac shows. No image is saved or sent.
Local network
Local network access lets Voice Box find your Mac and reach a broker or receiver you set.
What we collect
Nothing. No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no third-party SDKs. Your settings (language, pairing, the servers you entered) stay on your device and are removed when you delete the app.
Children
Voice Box collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
